Our skin constantly renews itself by producing new skin cells, connective tissue, and collagen. This process replaces older skin cells with healthy, living ones. However, cell turnover often slows down as we age. Our bodies become less efficient at sloughing away dead skin cells, which can accumulate on the surface of the epidermis (the outermost layer of skin), causing dullness, patchiness or discoloration.  

Exfoliation is key to clearing out such accumulated dead cells. By exfoliating, we help remove the dead cells stuck to the outermost layers, allowing fresher, younger, and glowing skin cells to re-emerge on the surface, revealing brighter and a glowing skin.  

The process helps reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation by removing surface skin cells containing excess pigment, resulting in fresher, clearer-looking skin. However, it's important to use exfoliants correctly and avoid over-exfoliation, as this can irritate the skin and potentially trigger the hyperpigmentation process again.
